It's now 25 years since I started counselling individuals and couples from my private practice in central Chiswick, West London, using a wide range of therapeutic skills. People come for help with a wide range of problems such as anxiety; depression; stress-related symptoms; relationship difficulties; mid-life and career-related questions; coping with serious illness; bereavement and loss. Working in an informal, conversational way which can best be described as Brief Solution-Focused Counselling, I also have a special interest in using the MyersBriggs Type Indicator* and The Enneagram* (and other transpersonal perspectives). I am able to offer Cognitive Therapy (CBT) as well as relaxation techniques such as Autogenics*. My first career was as a documentary film-maker for BBC-tv making programmes about psychological and social issues. I then put together the training, experience, personal therapy and supervision necessary to become one of the first Counselling Psychologists to be chartered by the British Psychological Society. I am also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and have an interest in research into the development of evidence-based psychological treatments. I am available from 7.30am to 3.30pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and on other mornings by appointment. Sessions last either 50 minutes or 1 hour 40 minutes and cost £70 and £140 respectively although reduced fees are negotiable. Payment by cheque or bank transfer. Parking is not a problem and the London Congestion Charge does not apply. Turnham Green tube station is about 7 minutes' walk away and there are many bus routes 2 or 3 minutes away.
